The HORIZON Consortium chosen to build batch 4 of the future Toulouse metro line C

23-03-2023

Tisséo has awarded the contract for the construction of batch 4 of the future line C of the Toulouse metro to the consortium formed by Bouygues Travaux Publics (leader, 65%), as well as Bessac, Soletanche Bachy France and Soletanche Bachy Tunnels (35%). The project, worth €352 million, will complete Toulouse's carbon-free collective mobility offer.

With the construction of batch 4 of line C, the Horizon consortium is helping to relieve road traffic congestion in the greater Toulouse area and promoting the use of soft mobility by connecting different modes of transport to 4 new stations.

The consortium is committed to the environment and to local action. It will endeavour to preserve the trees and reuse materials. It will also characterise the excavated material and will sort, remove and process it via local recycling channels.

This project includes the construction of:

  • A tunnel created using a tunnel boring machine (TBM), with a length of 4,160 metres and an internal diameter of 8.50 metres
  • 4 stations: Montaudran Gare, L’Ormeau, Limayrac-Cité de l’Espace and Jean Rieux
  • 3 ancillary structures and the galleries connecting them to the tunnel
  • A 650-metre-long cut-and-cover tunnel at the southern end of the batch at Montaudran

In addition to the complexity inherent in underground works, the main challenges of this project, which is being carried out on an urban site, are the phased construction of the end cut-and-cover tunnel through which the TBM must start digging and an interface with the viaduct construction site at the end of the tunnel at Montaudran.
