Bouygues Construction signs a historic agreement on complementary health cover for site workers in France

02-03-2020

Philippe Bonnave, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bouygues Construction, and the Group's representative trade unions, FO and CFTC, have signed an agreement enabling a very significant improvement in the levels of complementary health cover for the 5,800 site workers employed in France.

Thanks to this agreement, which will take effect on April 1, site workers on long-term sick leave in France will now benefit from guarantees that go well beyond their contractual obligations: they will be paid between 90% and 100% of their net salary, depending on the situation. These guarantees are equivalent to those of the company's supervisory and management personnel.

Following on from agreements relating to death and health benefits signed in 2008 and 2015 respectively, this is another significant step forward in terms of support for site workers, this time in the event of incapacity or disability.

A spokesman for PRO BTP, a partner in the project, said: "Bouygues Construction has become the first major player in the construction sector in France to bring the social protection guarantees for all its employees into line with each other."

Philippe Bonnave said: "The health and safety of our employees is paramount. This agreement provides additional security to complement the safety measures we have been taking on our construction sites through all the preventive actions we have implemented over many years. Our discussions with the trade unions have been very constructive."
