Bouygues Travaux Publics To Construct Phase 5 Of The Istria Motorway In Croatia

The Republic of Croatia has awarded the contract for widening an 8-kilometre stretch of motorway to the Bina Istra concession company and Bouygues Travaux Publics. The contract is worth €197 million.
 
Located in north-western Croatia, around 200 km from Zagreb, the new phase of the Istria motorway project includes:
  • design and construction of the second tube of the Učka tunnel as well as the construction of a 270-metre viaduct,
  • widening to 4 lanes of the 8-kilometre section linking Vranja, to the west of the Učka nature park, and Kvarner, to the east,
  • and an interchange at Vranja, plus three toll plazas.
 
The works will comply with the strictest environmental regulations in order to preserve local biodiversity.

At peak periods, 450 people will be working on this project, for which work has just got underway.

The contract is scheduled to run for 42 months.
